If you've invested in an IRA and meet certain criteria, you might be interested in making a Qualified Charitable Distribution.

What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is drawn from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Depending on your age, you may be be able to give directly from your IRA directly to NoHLA without having to pay income taxes on that money.

To contribute under the QCD tax limit in 2026:

  • If you are 70½ years or older - you can give any amount up to $111,000.
  • For donors 73 and older - you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution.

Transfers must come from your IRA and be made payable to Northwest Health Law Advocates (NoHLA).

Note: 401(k), 403(b), and other retirement plans do not qualify.

This is not tax or legal advice. It is shared for informational purposes only. Please consult your financial advisor for details and options.

Your Impact

With a QCD to NoHLA, your IRA funds add power to our movement. Your generous contribution will help advance our mission to ensure that all Washingtonians can access the health care they need and deserve.

The funds you transfer to NoHLA will help fuel the strategic policy advocacy, access expansion, and coalition-building work that builds a more just and accessible health system.
