Care without fear: Immigrants can access Medicaid and other Programs

We are heartened to see the federal government recently reaffirmed the long-standing guidance that accessing most public benefits should not have any bearing on immigration status.  However, some people continue to fear being considered a “public charge” by the Department of Homeland Security.  To help alleviate concerns, NoHLA has partnered with the Protecting Immigrant Families – Washington coalition to create Know Your Rights documents in English and Spanish. You can also learn more from this WA Law Help publication.

Please share these documents with your networks and emphasize that CMS has issued new guidance that clearly reiterated Medicaid availability to immigrants and emphasizes privacy protections. In fact, the Department of Health and Human Services is urging state leaders to educate eligible immigrants about Medicaid coverage.
