A coalition of conservatives, including the Heritage Foundation and former Senator Rick Santorum, released a blueprint “The Health Care Choices Proposal” to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Again. It contains similar provisions to Graham-Cassidy, one of last year’s (many) failed attempts to undermine the ACA. The proposal is very unlikely to pass this year, especially given increasing voter support for the ACA’s protections. (Just stop already!)
House Republicans released a health care funding bill last week. The bill does not include funding to implement ACA programs. It prohibits both navigator funding and the user fees to pay for Exchanges. It also eliminates all the funding for the Title X Family Planning Program. This is only a proposal; the Senate has not released their proposed funding bill yet. An Appropriations subcommittee will take up the proposal next week.
We agree with The Seattle Times’ position – the ACA is worth saving.
