Apple Health Expanded to Nearly 12,000 Washington Immigrants – But More Is Needed

We’re thrilled that this month, health and dental coverage started for almost 12,000 Washingtonians thanks to the launch of Apple Health Expansion, a Medicaid-like program for undocumented immigrants. The program has now reached its cap due to limited funding (with few exceptions), but other individuals can still apply to be considered if space becomes available in the future via Washington Healthplanfinder (19 to 64 years old) or Washington Connection (65 years or older). The vast majority of program slots were filled in just 2 days, underscoring the great need for health coverage among undocumented Washingtonians.

NoHLA has advocated for years alongside community leaders to launch this landmark program. Now we’ll be working to ensure the program meets the needs of immigrant communities, including supporting more program capacity to ensure that all Washingtonians can access affordable health care.
