NoHLA is fortunate to host summer interns every year, and this year we have two bright students who have just completed their first year of law school. We’re thrilled to have them join us! Each interviewed the other in order to introduce their colleague to you.
Meet Chris!
Chris Hightower comes to NoHLA from the University of Washington School of Law, after receiving his graduate degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama and his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Montevallo. Prior to beginning his law school career, Chris worked for UW Medicine, most recently as a Compliance Analyst. While at UW Medicine, Chris developed an interest in the legal and regulatory aspects of information management, and he was drawn to NoHLA because of its health policy and health-centered legislative advocacy work.
At NoHLA, Chris is currently working on a project to provide feedback to the Health Benefit Exchange regarding its Disability Access Plan.
Outside of work and school, Chris enjoys watching documentaries, writing fiction, and traveling, He loves comic books (X-Men!), and he’s curious about becoming a beekeeper and having a pet pig. He also loves spending time with his two cats, Oliver and Stella.
Meet Jessica!
Jessica Looker comes to NoHLA from the University of Washington School of Law, after earning her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Seattle University. In addition to pursuing her law degree, Jessica is also pursuing a Master’s of Public Health in Health Services and a Master of Laws in Sustainable International Development.
Jessica was drawn to NoHLA because of our health policy and advocacy work, and she is excited to delve deeper into health insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, immigrant health, and budgetary issues. She is currently analyzing how a new memorandum from President Trump will affect immigrants’ access to health care.
When not at work or school, Jessica enjoys practicing Pilates, cooking, and traveling. Like Chris, she enjoys watching documentaries, and reading comic books. She also loves spending time with her dog, Jasper.
