NoHLA Senior Policy Advocate Lee Che P. Leong will deliver a keynote address at “Exploring the Intersectionality of Substance Use Disorders, Mental Health, and Social Justice,” a free virtual conference on September 26-27 sponsored by UW Medicine Behavioral Health Institute. Lee Che’s presentation will focus on how US immigration policy perpetuates systemic inequity and racist exclusion, particularly affecting health care access for undocumented immigrants. The session will include a look at Washington’s new initiatives to expand health coverage for undocumented immigrants, including Healthplanfinder and the Apple Health Expansion/Medicaid-like program, the lessons learned from the first months of implementation, and how we can collaborate to improve equity and access.
