NoHLA Board Member Spotlight: Misha Werschkul

Misha joined our Board of Directors in 2014 after witnessing the impact of NoHLA’s research and advocacy on health policy in Olympia. Misha is no stranger to small organizations that pack a policy punch! As the Executive Director of the Washington State Budget & Policy Center, she helps make sure the state budget delivers on the values of Washington State and supports investments in the things that make our state great, like health care, quality public schools, and our environment. When not solving our great state’s revenue challenges, Misha is spending time with her husband, Josh, and (adorable) 2-year old daughter, Frances – ideally riding bikes along Lake Washington on a sunny summer afternoon. When at home, Misha also has a cat and three chickens vying for her attention.

Misha clearly has many demands on her time. When asked why she spends time supporting NoHLA, Misha says “There are dozens of groups working on health care in Washington state, but NoHLA is one of the only advocacy groups that truly represents the perspective of health care consumers. This is a needed voice and I am happy to lend my time to help make sure that voice is as strong as it can be!”
