NoHLA and others are now awaiting word on the Legislature’s supplemental budget. The deadline for legislators to submit their budget requests for consideration has passed. Now, we are looking toward the forecast produced by the Economic Revenue & Forecast Council, expected on February 14th. After that, the House and Senate may need to make adjustments based on those numbers and finish up their budget proposals. Once the final budget proposals are released, the legislature will then spend the remainder of the session negotiating the final budget.
At the top of our budget priority list is funding for the “Apple Health Expansion” immigrant health program set to begin this summer, as well as other immigrant health funding requests. See NoHLA’s overview here. We also hope to see other Apple Health priorities funded, such as continuous coverage for all children ages birth to six, including children at the CHIP income level.
