New legislators ran on health care

In the 2018 elections, Washington voters elected Dr. Kim Schrier, a pediatrician championing quality health care as a fundamental human right, to the U.S. House of Representatives, District 8. At the state level, we sent 5 new Democrats to the State Senate and 12 new Democrats to the State House, increasing Democratic majorities in both houses. Here’s a list of those who included access to health care as a priority in their campaigns:

Representatives

U.S. Congresswoman Kim Schrier, District 8

Lisa Callan – District 5
Lauren Davis – District 32
Debra Entenman – District 47
Mari Leavitt – District 28
Debra Lekanoff – District 40
Dave Paul – District 10
Sharon Shewmake – District 42
My-Linh Thai – District 41
Amy Walen – District 48

Senators
Joe Nguyen – District 34
Emily Randall – District 26
Jesse Salomon – District 32
Claire Wilson – District 30

There’s clearly a groundswell of support to address health care issues and move toward universal coverage. Good luck to all in moving those priorities in 2019!
