But here’s the catch: not even the senators themselves know what they’ll be voting on if the “motion to proceed” passes.
They could vote on a repeal-without-replacement bill that the Congressional Budget Office predicts will destabilize health insurance markets nationwide. Or they could vote on the Better Care Reconciliation Act, a package which will cut Medicaid by over a third and gut consumer protections for millions of women. Or they could vote on a bill that no one but Mitch McConnell has seen.
That’s why we need you to CALL your senators TODAY and tell them to vote NO on the “motion to proceed” on health care.
No matter what, all roads lead to the same place, with millions of people losing their health care coverage.
Please CALL your senators TODAY and tell them to vote NO on the “motion to proceed.”
Here’s what you can do right now:
1. Call your Senators
If you live in Washington, please call Senator Cantwell at 202-224-3441 and Senator Murray at 202-224-2621 TODAY to remind them that health care needs to be preserved. Ask them to continue speaking out against catastrophic changes to the Affordable Care Act, and urge them to target their persuadable colleagues in the House and Senate, and across party and state lines. They need your support! You can also call your Senators toll-free at 866-426-2631 or email them using this tool.
2. Call your friends and family in target states
Once you make your calls, please urge your friends and family to call their Senators too, especially in the following key states: West Virginia, Alaska, and Nevada. Phones need to be ringing constantly for the next 24 hours!
